George Bennet Esq.
Words of an inspirational man I know little about, but met one sunny day in Sheffield, England:One prayer I have, all prayers in one,
when I am wholly Thine:
Thy will, my God, Thy will be done,
And let that will be mine.
All-wise, Almighty, and all-Good,
In Thee I firmly trust
Thy ways unknown or understood
Are merciful and just.
A Pilgrim through the earth I roam
of nothing long possest
And all must fall when I go home
For this is not my rest
Write but my name upon the roll
of Thy Redeemd above
Then heart and mind and strength and soul
I'll love Thee for Thy love.
These words I found engraved and worn with age on his gravestone-monument in a cemetary, with a statue of a man standing leaning on a globe. He says:
After an honest comparison of multitudes of persons, of nearly all climes colours and characters, I am enabled, and by a love of truth, constrained to bear this humble and sincere testimony to the paramount worth of the Gospel of God our Saviour; that having traced the globe around, and searched from Britain to Japan, I still have no religion found, so just to God, so true to man.
Words about him:
In early manhood having "first given himself unto the Lord" he thenceforward consecrated his time, his talents and his substance to the service of the Gospel.
What a testimony his life is, even now, hundreds of years later. How I long to represent Christ in such a way!

Did you get a photograph of this gravestone and man? Would love to see it. Can you put it on this blog?
Wonder what deep thoughts I can leave behind that will last for generations?
