What is desperation?
Feverish passion...Intense longing...
Deep need...
Falling apart without...
Focused on one thing...
Yearning...
It seems a weak thing to feel desperation for someone or something, but I was faced with what it looks like in the Christian walk this weekend. And realizing that I desperately need others as I also desperately need God. I cannot do this life thing on my own and I think I've been trying to. But what am I to do now...now that I've opened the door to desperation?
God's been gracious to give me incredible communities and friends and family and so many people along my journey, whether or not I recognize my desperate need for them. Here is one example...my Mars Hill House Church. And also, my church family in England, whom my heart rejoices in the fact that I will soon see them again! And my dear family, tied by blood and heritage.

You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing. ~ Ps 16
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God...Deep calls to deep in the roar of Your waterfalls. ~ Ps 42
I want to yearn for You; I want to burn with passion over You, and only You. Lord, I want to yearn for You; I want to burn with passion over You and only You. Lord, I want to yearn. ~ Shane and Shane
God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 1
But when we were torn away from you for a short time (in person, not in thought), out of our intense longing we made every effort to see you...For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when He comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy. ~ 1 Thess 2
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. ~ 1 Peter 4
Walk this life beneath the stars/Contemplate just who we are/Against the backdrop of knowing God/Seasons pass, they come and go/But one thing keeps its worth in gold/A timeless bond, sharing dreams we hold//It's larger than life, it's larger than we/It's bigger than you, it's bigger than me/It's larger than life//There's something here that tells me so/I was not made to walk alone/It sharpens me to know we stand as one... ~ Downhere
