dreams and quarantines
I have a tendency sometimes while sleeping to in-part wake up and continue my dream, only to realize that I'm not still dreaming but awake...very strange. Well, this happened last night, and I must recount it, because it leads to another funny story. Not sure what I was dreaming about, but in the fuzzy-headedness of not quite awake, I saw a shadow on the backside of the bookshelf/wall at the end of my bed...I HAD to see what it was, for, it seemed in my dream that it was significant. So I turned on my light and read what was on the shadowy thing posted there...whew...the blast of light shocked me into realizing that I was no longer dreaming...it also hit me I wasn't dreaming when what I read reminded me of a funny reality. The pamphlet (posted there for reminders to laugh) says "Your Mail has Breached Australia Quarantine Laws." Haha! Here's the story:
I have a friend studying in Australia. Last autumn here (spring in Oz), he was missing the gorgeous Michigan season, and so being struck with a creative and fun thought, I gathered some colorful and quite awesome leaves, pressed them in waxed paper, and made a schnazzy little autumn leaf book that I mailed down under to cheer him up and give a little glimpse of Michigan autumn. Well, with great disappointment, my piece of mail was confiscated and quarantined, probably incinerated, and I received this letter back from the Australia postal service saying, "Your Mail has Breached Australia Quarantine Laws!" Who'da thought? So I saved the warning letter and posted it on my wall to make me laugh...which it does (even in my sleep!) and hopefully it makes you laugh as well.
