The bigger picture

It's a cosmic wonder this role I play down here
How in all of time and space and history

I'm counted even one to live and breathe

Cuz my mind can only fathom shallow grace

And my tongue can speak of only simple simple things

And in light of all that You have done for me

I stop right now to celebrate Your bigger picture

I'm amazed and I'm undone
By Your bigger picture I'm in orbit around the Son

I still cannot believe that I'm alive

Cuz through this smaller window, Jesus, You are the bigger picture

It's a celestial secret to still so many who

Who are missing this perspective, this encounter

With such a beautiful arrangement, a spectacular view

Cuz our eyes can only see what they believe
And our hands can only touch when they reach past the sleeve

And in light of all that You have shown to me
I stop right now to celebrate Your bigger picture

I'm amazed and I'm undone

By Your bigger picture I'm in orbit around the Son

I still cannot believe that I'm alive

Cuz through this smaller window, Jesus, You are the bigger picture

~ song by Justin Barnard

I love moments when I glimpse the bigger picture and see Jesus more clearly and take the time to celebrate Him. I had a moment like this the other day, when I originally had begun to post this, but life happens and I quickly was engulfed in other things. Too often it seems, I see only me and my world gets smaller and smaller until I'm so wrapped up in myself and my little world that all I see does not inspire me to celebrate. It's something I quite tired of and long so much to be free from me, to see Jesus more clearly and live in light of that.

Yet, I listen to the words of this song again and read the words I copied here, and think...it's a choice. To stop right now. To choose to celebrate. To choose to believe. To reach past myself. To open my eyes to HIS bigger picture and let it hit me and change me. It's about self-discipline, choosing even when I'm not feeling, choosing to believe even when I don't see, because it's in the believing that my eyes are opened more and more to see the BIGGER PICTURE.

To be amazed and undone
by Christ
I open wide my eyes
trusting to see what I believe
grace flows deep
bursts through my window

small though it is
blinking at the wonder

I see

the Bigger Picture

Drawn as always to the words CHOICE and CHOOSING.

What a great big dawn it is on our simple minds, every time, to realize how much God really bound up in this will of ours. Enough that slipping up condemned the world. Enough that reaching up to nail-scarred hands redeems us.

Somebody should write a book about choices and choosing and how it affects the chooser and generations after...
