December 9

I was skeptical when I heard this was being produced, but take a look at the trailer and see if it doesn't give you a little excitement to see what's coming to cinemas just a couple weeks before my birthday!

The Chronicles of Narnia - Trailer

The WETA workshop people, who did Lord of the Rings' digital effects, are the ones who did digital effects for Narnia. And the director's got a great accent...watch the trailer to see! :-)

Horray for CS Lewis!

I can't see the trailer (computer capability reasons), but the pictures look just as they should. I'm glad they have a very British cast, and that Lucy is as young as she ought to be. (What was up with her looking about twelve in the other movie version?)

One thing I don't like (as usual) is the media, and how they're turning comparisons into a competition with LOTR and Tolkien. Idiots! as Napoleon would say. "Middle-earth has nothing on Narnia" was one line as I recall, citing centaurs and giants and such creatures in Lewis's world, and ignoring the fact that Tolkien CREATED his own creatures, like Ents, and three or four flippin' languages.

And the fact that you can't compare sub-creation, you can just enter it and love it, or not. But you can't expect the media to get this, I suppose. Oh well.
