Embarrassing Moments 202
Lesson for the Day: How to create awkwardness with a friend by displaying persistent annoying tendencies, cross-gender miscommunications and embarrassing situations that you somehow get yourself into.Option 1: Assume information you've read about him on the internet is true and then invite him to something he would not at all be excited to attend, and so then he declines the offer, creating an awkward phone conversation when you realize the only reason you would know that information is via the internet rather than your friendship. Shoot, stalkerish!
Option 2: Apologize profusely for being annoying and stalkerish, even though you weren't exactly trying to be one, just interested in his life and trying to be a nice friend and extend a gesture of thankfulness.
Option 3: Laugh hysterically out of embarrassment and shame and the ironic humour of it all, hoping he doesn't make the connect that you think you know him more than you really do, and are trying too hard for a connection.
Option 4: Try to make up for the wrong assumption when you find out it's frisbee golf, not golf, that he's interested in, and refer to the park near your house with a frisbee golf course, yeah he frequents that when there's no snow...too bad it's winter.
Option 5: Just blurt out: Boy do I feel dumb!
Option 6: Take a deep breath and accept that fact that you don't have a clue how this works, and just resort to being completely real...
Well, thankfully I have a nice and patient friend who for some reason, despite these common occurrences (see Embarrassing Moments 101) still seems to be my friend. Hope it lasts! haha!
