the Morley in me

The other day I went to a junior high youth meeting as part of homework for a seminary class on Educational Ministries in the church. Getting there a bit early, I walked in to see three (non-junior high) guys (all whom I knew-Troy, Aaron and Joe) having a little male-domination game...to see who could throw the football most accurately against a spot on the wall painted artistically, but looking like a target. I was highly entertained by their antics and references to feeling like "Uncle Rico" and laughter at themselves.

As I walked across the room, the football bounced off the wall and flew my direction. With my mischieveous, cheeky grin, I picked up the ball, put down the notebook in my hand...and walked toward Joe (aka JHH) who had his hands outstretched to receive the ball from me.

Not so fast mister, I thought to myself, but instead replied: "Do I get a turn?" and walked up to the "line" and pulled up my sleeves. First try was a little low, but it was a warm up...then I threw on the heat.

Jaws dropped, a crowd of males gathered, and I kept hearing gasps and exclamations of surprise and awe: "Whoa - what a bullet!" "I can't believe you can throw the ball that hard!" "Was your dad a football coach?"

"No, but my Grandpa was," I replied with pride and honor.
I love surprising and impressing boys with my natural athleticism. haha!

Must be the Morley in me.
