Summer in the City

You know it's been a good day when you lie in bed at night thinking of the names and faces of people you've crossed paths with or the people you've enjoyed company with during the course of the day. The past four days have been like that, drifting off to sleep with a smile, and with satisfaction and pleasure mingled with a tiredness that says it's been a day well-spent.

The flurry of activity has been quite non-stop since Friday night when just around 50 people from across England (and me and Kenyan Beth) joined together to share Christ in word and deed with the City of Sheffield. Get to know each other games, great times of prayer, tea (of course!), training sessions on "The Gospel" (Philippians) and evangelism stuff, spending time serving and chatting with locals through a wide variety of activities, great Gospel conversations, putting on a jazz cafe...

It's been fantastic, really brilliant! The most exciting things for me so far have been running into people I knew from when I lived here...some people from my work at Tesco (Sarah, John and potentially others during the week), a Muslim woman and her children who I knew through a playcenter I volunteered at, a Muslim girl I helped tutor and her sisters who were my friends...it's amazing to see how my feeble efforts to love and make a difference even those years ago seem to have resonated, thanks be to Christ for making my time worth it when I thought I had failed or done very little!

I'm looking forward to the six days still remaining and plan to make the most of this precious time. It's been so encouraging and amazing to see how I've changed and how God has worked in my life since I was here before. SO thankful for His grace and ongoing work, so thankful for the perspective He's allowed me to see.

Thanks for your prayers. They're definitely needed and felt. Pray for my heart...I love it here and feel so alive.
