I don't claim to be great, but my desire is to live well right where God has me today. It's been easy to deceive myself into thinking greatness is something "out there" that I define and pursue, when in reality greatness happens right here through living and loving well and looking back to see how great God has been to work through me in spite of myself.

Traveling, culture, change, communicating, being out-of-the-box - these things, though I'm passionate for them, pale in comparison to the ONE THING I desire to be about.
"Love is doing what will enthrall the beloved with the greatest and longest joy. What will enthrall the beloved this way is the glory of God. Love means doing all we can, at whatever cost to ourselves, to help people be enthralled with the glory of God. When they are, they are satisfied and God is glorified. Therefore loving people and glorifying God are one." ~ John Piper
"Faith has joy at its heart: it is being satisfied with all that God is for us in Jesus. Therefore, the 'good fight of faith' is a fight for joy." ~ John Piper (full seminar text)

I have a very similiar picture of Faith taken at a young age - like 3 years - looking up to heaven with her little hands on a Bible. It made me think of her name "Faithful Christian" looking up for guidance from above. She still looks up with that child like faith (tossled by life) seeking God's direction. If I can find the picture, I'll post it.
Your mom sent me your blog sight. Loved reading it. You, your mom and grandma have such a gift for writing. You fill out the pictures of what happens to you. I would write that I went to pub on St. Patty's day, but you make it come alive (example) Keep up the journaling. Love, Aunt Linda
