God is the Gospel
Just bought this book and plan to jump into it straight away. So excited! Went to Piper's website and found an inspiring quote and challenge...read this and see if you don't want to also dig into the depths of understanding the Gospel....“If you want your life to count, if you want the ripple effect of the pebbles you drop to become waves that reach the ends of the earth and roll on for centuries and into eternity, you don't have to have a high IQ or EQ; you don't have to have good looks or riches; you don't have to come from a fine family or a fine school. You have to know a few great, majestic, unchanging, obvious, simple, glorious things, and be set on fire by them.” – John Piper
We want to be mastered by the single most important truth there is to know: the gospel of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. We seek, with Paul, to proclaim to others, what is “of first importance” (1 Cor. 15:3), and boast in nothing “except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Gal. 6:14). The gospel of Jesus Christ is true and beautiful and powerful. And God’s glory is both its heart and goal.
