a few thoughts...
as we've entered the season of Lent, I have found myself more quiet and desiring space to ponder Christ and the mystery of the Gospel...the inward journey.
and also during Lent, I am desiring to start putting action to my thoughts, and hopefully will be more busy with outward activity serving others.
so I anticipate some blog silence for a bit, but i leave you with some thoughts on Lent and Easter from some wise teachers in my life:
A Message
...we honour the cross as we demonstrate its power to transform lives. That's how we honour the cross. That's how we honour the King. As we demonstrate the power to transform lives and change us, from self preoccupied, self-serving individuals into lovers. Lovers of God and lovers of others. You see, the cross of Christ, through which this mystery of the church is gloriously created, not only tells me that it's not all about me, which is what I think it is instinctively, but it deals with the sin in my heart that makes it so, and it sets me free to love and to serve for the glory of God.May God give us the grace to present to the world, the needy world, the power of the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the King of kings, and the mystery that is His church. ~ Steve, The Mystery of the ChurchA Prayer
God, together we thank you for the resurrection. We thank you that it is true. We thank you that it is for us. And we thank you for the reminder today that we need many resurrections. And God as we approach this season of Lent, this season of anticipation and restoration, we ask that You would guide us, that you would guide us individually, that you would guide us as a community. That you would heighten the sense of tragedy and mystery and hope, that, God, there would be reminders to us that the day is coming, and that we would be different people as we are put back together in this season. God, we thank you for Jesus; we thank You for His life, for His death, and for His resurrection. And we thank you that you hear us and you answer our prayers because we pray in the Name of Jesus, the risen Lord. Amen. ~ Troy, Introduction to LentA Blessing
May you in this Lent season, enter deeply into the tragedy that is your own experience, that you might more authentically go into the world with the hope of the cross. May you enter deeply into the mystery that is your salvation, and may you hope radically in what God can do in you and through you. So please, go in peace. ~ Don, Introduction to Lent
